The City of Des Moines has focused on revitalizing the downtown area in the past couple of years. There is a lot to do within walking distance. Here are some places to visit and activities in the downtown Des Moines area:

One of the largest full service muscle car shops in the country. Located 1.5 miles from hotel.

Many opportunities for walking, biking other other activites. 1.9 mile trail encircling the lake. The trail is lit and provides a beautiful, clean and safe outdoor experience. Fish, rent a boat or canoe or go swimming. Located 4 miles from hotel.

The Cheese Shop (thecheeseshopdsm.com):

A local shop that serves over 100 Artisan and Farmhouse cheeses. Enjoy in their cheese tasting bar, craft beer and wine or cured meats. Located 4 miles from hotel.

The Great Escape in Pleasant Hill (premierebowling.net):

Area Bike Trails (madridiowa.com/high-trestle-trail):

Be sure to bring your bikes! If you enjoy bike riding, you will enjoy the flat Iowa trails. From the hotel you can connect to various 100+ -mile trail loops. The most popular would be a 75 -mile loop to the High Trestle Trail Bridge.
